Originally adopted from the Weatherford shelter in October 2023, Dewalt’s adoptive family has realized that his natural herding instinct (which came out after he was adopted) was not a good fit for them.

About 4 years old and 38 lbs, Dewalt is a fantastic little pup! He’s great with older kids but we think way too herdy for cats and little kids. He’s super cute and super friendly, with good food drive (but not very much toy drive). He’s not super high energy, and definitely can settle inside and is house and leash trained. He is being fostered with a LOT of other dogs and doesn’t care a whit about any of them. He’s more interested in his person (can be a little pushy if he wants to snuggle) and his bone, though he doesn’t have any resource guarding issues either – he just walks away and finds another bone (or human)! 😁

Dewalt’s best home would be one where he can hang out and then walk and run and hike with his person. He’s been pretty quiet inside, so might be a good fit for an active apartment dweller as long as he got his walks and bones. He doesn’t need another dog, so would be a great solo pet and so far, has done fantastic just hanging out.
