We received a plea to help out a small, ETX shelter where they had a petite female BC mix that had been surrendered in August 2024 and was starting to go stir-crazy in the shelter. We understood completely but didn’t have any available fosters at the time. Then lo and behold! One of our fosters (and alum adopters) reached out and said they were ready to foster again, but it needed to be a small, dog-friendly pup. DING DING DING DING DING!!!!!

Fast forward – Layla (1.5 yrs old, 32 lbs., and about 18 1/2 inches at the withers) has joined the rescue! And per our volunteer who assessed her for us and now her foster, there is so much to love about this dog!

She is athletic, petite and engaged with her people. She knows simple behaviors (sit, down, etc), slept nicely in her crate overnight, and is good with other dogs. She is very treat motivated, loves toys and her tennis ball and is very food motivated. At 32 pounds and 19 inches tall, she’s a petite powerhouse. This sporty girl has strong toy and food drive, loves playing fetch, has excellent leash skills, and is ready to find her forever home!
