IS YOUR FAMILY MISSING A FURRY FRIEND?!

Introducing Walt, a stunning, fluffy, fun loving 1 year old Border Collie/ and presumed Aussie. Picked up as a stray in Williamson County, Walt is a very loving and playful pup that is well behaved and adjusting well to family life. He is ready to find his furever home with a family that can help him thrive.

This sweet and gentle pup has a big heart, and his soft, affectionate personality makes him a wonderful companion. Walt is house-trained, crate-trained, car-trained, great with other pups, older kids and people—meaning he’s ready to go to his furever home! Whether it’s a car ride, playtime, or just relaxing at home, Walt is eager to be part of his new family’s daily adventures.

Strengths

❤️ Bonds well with humans and animals, enjoys companionship
❤️ LOVES cuddles and affection, always cozying up to his human
❤️ Happy, smiling personality with a soft demeanor
❤️ Praise-motivated and thrives on positive reinforcement
❤️ Accepts correction and picks up on patterns and routines quickly
❤️ Rides great in the car, no crate needed, can be trusted unattended
❤️ Walks and runs great on a leash, learning structured heeling
❤️ Very social and playful with his foster siblings, enjoys chase & zoomies with other dogs
❤️ Not destructive, will self-entertain outside with a soccer ball or bone
❤️ Calm and quiet in his crate, no potty accidents, will chew his blankets occasionally
❤️ Excellent during baths, brushing, and nail trims

Weaknesses

😐 Still learning house manners, has basic puppy tendencies
😐 Typical young male dog marking behavior outside only
😐 Limited recall — training is greatly improving but not 100% reliable yet
😐 Not very toy-motivated, making training slower
😐 Firework & gun noise anxiety—will run and hide when startled

Walt was picked up as a stray pup, but has shown manners in basic training where it appears he was cared for. He is friendly and interested in his surroundings including interacting with other people and dogs. He is food motivated and enjoys his treat time. He is very adaptable and has a desire to learn. He can be redirected when he guards his food or toys. He is affectionate and always seeks physical closeness, leaning into his humans, curling up for cuddles, and following them from room to room. Walt is cautious in new environments but approaches them with curiosity and interest. He is not afraid to make new friends.

Walt is adjusting well to indoor living and has developed a good potty routine. He enjoys his crate and is calm and quiet inside it at night or when left alone. He can be trusted with supervised free roam of the house but still needs monitoring in new situations. He will follow you from room to room but has learned to settle down when it’s office, dinner, or TV time. He can self-entertain with toys and bones or simply nap by your feet—or in your lap if given the chance! Walt is learning to be a dog and loves to play with his toys together. He still exhibits puppy tendencies so anything at this level is fair game, including shoes. So best to put anything not to be chewed out of reach.

Walt is the perfect turn-key 1-year-old Border Collie and is ready to settle into his new routine with his forever family. Ready to make Walt part of your family?
