Sky is one of the Indiana Three, a subset of a group of nine adult and four puppies rescued from a breeder turned hoarder in Indiana. A fellow rescue group, Clancy’s Dream, saved all the pups and in turn, transferred the pups to several other rescues, including BCSAVE (who took three). Unfortunately, all the dogs rescued were heartworm positive. In addition, several of the older pups like Sky, had very bad teeth. Sky herself had to have 6 teeth removed.
A beautiful short-haired brindle and white female, Sky has a sweet and loving disposition. All she wants to do is sit next to you and get pet. So far, she seems to be a lower-energy pup but she is still being assessed. Her energy level may or may not increase as she gets more comfortable. She also has not shown any ball, toy or food drive, or any herding instinct – yet.
Because Sky is heartworm positive, she will have to go through a minimum 120 days of treatment. BCSAVE follows the American Heartworm Society (AHS) “fast kill” protocol, which means Sky will be on several medications and severe activity restriction for the next four months. Interested adopters can submit an application today and if approved to adopt Sky, can either adopt pending the completion of her treatment with her foster, or adopt sooner by signing a Heartworm Addendum and confirming that they will continue with her treatment.
