Balto

Balto is a 66 lbs, 3 year old purebred Border Collie from a herding line in New Mexico. He was originally purchased to be a support and therapy dog, but his original owner ended up with medical issues that prevented him from giving Balto the training or time he needed. Balto’s original owner then rehomed him to another home, who felt that she was not the best home for Balto either. She then reached out to the breeder, who was not able to keep him and who then reached out to us.
Balto is a large dog with a very strong herding instinct. He is a sweet guy who loves his person and is smart and quick and a fast learner. He does have some quirks – he barks at shadows and will hyper-focus on the TV at times. He is fine with other dogs, more often ignoring them though he doesn’t back down if one gets in his face. He does great on leash and loves riding in the car. He is house trained and can be trusted to free roam without any problems. Balto will need a very active home, preferably one where he can work and stay active.
