Dante

🐾 Dante is one of FOURTEEN dogs pulled from a hoarding case in Mississippi, where they all lived in an apartment together and after discovery, were subsequently surrendered to different shelters in MS. All fourteen dogs were severely underweight, probably in-bred, had urine-stained fur, and soft paws from never having been outside. Luckily, none of them were heartworm positive. Many were very timid upon rescue and NONE of them were house-trained, but all have shown themselves to be very sweet and loving dogs and good with other pups. Six went to our rescue friends at Border Collie Rescue and Rehab, while eight stayed with BCSAVE.

Dante is a natural 🥎 dog, always with one in his mouth or a stash in his bed. He is also a natural at frisbee 🥏, already knowing how to catch. He’s fairly active, but does have an off-switch. He gets along great with other dogs and is appropriate when playing. He’s house-trained with a dog door, will crate reluctantly, and is getting better and better on his leash skills. He has not been cat or kid tested, but would probably do just fine with cats. He might be a little hesitant around young, unpredictable, noisy little ones, but would do fine around older kids.

Out of all of the MS pups, Dante is the least talkative, though he will chuff and bark to wake you up in the AM if he thinks you are sleeping in too late. He loves pets but is not pushy or needy, and is happy sleeping by your chair or at the foot of your 🛌. He can be a little shy sometimes, but is getting much more confident every day. He’s got a beautiful soulful expression on his face, will come to you for encouragement, and he absolutely lights up when there is ball play going on!

Dante is just a great dog who wants someone to throw the ball or frisbee for him before retiring for the evening. He’d be great for an active family who is looking for a sweet, playful pup. If you are looking for a new best friend or a casual frisbee pup, check out Dante!
