Domino Rally, aka Rally, is a 1yo, 48 lbs male Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix. Standing about 18″ tall, his ideal weight is ~32 lbs. Born on 9/21/23, he was found with his mother and littermates in Wylie, Texas, then adopted.

Rally was surrendered to BCSAVE because he was being picked on by his smaller Pom siblings. Despite initial issues, he has shown a lot of promise and potential and already knows TONS of commands!

Rally is a big lover with a heart of gold. He adores cuddles and needs to always be touching his person. His favorite way to say thank you is with sweet dog kisses. While he’s soft and skeptical about new experiences, he is learning to find joy and comfort in them. Rally is a true Velcro dog, always seeking closeness and expressing his love. He is extremely low energy and prefers to be indoors, nestled by his human’s side rather than playing. Rally is slowly discovering the fun in toys, walks, jogs, and swimming, participating mainly to please his human. His warmth and loving demeanor make him a delightful companion.

Rally will use a dog door and goes outside to potty but does not enjoy hanging out there for long. Rally does not chew, has no food or toy resource guarding, and does not jump on furniture unless invited. He will hide behind his humans and resource guard people if he feels scared or threatened. He can self-entertain with bones and chew toys and will occasionally engages in a game of tug or fetch. He is crate trained and will use his crate as a safe space, with the door open during the day and closed at night. He sleeps through the night next to his human’s bed or in their bed and is relatively quiet, alerting to outside noises but not reacting with fear or anxiety.

He does great with adults, kids, and other dogs once introduced. He is learning to enjoy dog parks but tends to stay close to his owner. He doesn’t find off-leash parks very entertaining and prefers to sit under a bench while watching. Rally loves going for car rides and enjoys walking around new places with his owner.

As a Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix, Rally has the potential for a great sport drive, but his current personality suggests otherwise. Having experienced multiple transitions in his first ten months—from being a stray to a shelter, home, boarding facility, and finally foster—Rally is currently very shut down. With the right nurturing environment, he might develop novice sport potential. However, at this time, he has low food/ toy/ herding drive and shows no interest in fetch, tug, running, or swimming.

Rally would be best in experienced dog family with a confident older dog of his size who can mentor him. He can be in a home with kids if the family is patient and gives him time to adjust and build confidence.
