Dot was found in a horse barn in a rural part of Mississippi with a new litter of puppies. Both Dot and the puppies were rescued, and the puppies all found good homes but Dot was not a good candidate for adoption as she was extremely fearful of people. Luckily, our wonderful Louisiana partner was able to arrange a rescue angel to fly Dot to Texas, where a cadre of BCSAVE volunteers picked her up and got her to our staging foster.

So far, Dot has shown herself to be a VERY active pup. She loves to run and chase all day long. She is food motivated, but still leery of people. She has been coming up to her foster for pets and scratches more and more, and loves to stand up and give kisses though don’t startle her or she’ll run off. She can be barky when trying to get the attention of another dog, but she seems to focus on just one or two dogs when doing this. She is also still very leash reactive right now, but does know how to use the dog door and is house-trained.

Dot is a beautiful pup who just needs someone patient who can work with her through her fear of people and leashes. She has never been aggressive or mean, even when she was extremely scared. We think she can be trained to walk on a leash, but it will take some time.
