Elsa

Elsa is a Border Collie mix (we think), approximately 1 year old. She came to BCSAVE from a shelter in East Texas. They reached out to us because Elsa had some lameness in her back leg and was not using it fully, and they were not sure they had the capacity to treat her.
We took her to our vet for x-rays and they determined that Elsa had an old injury to her back leg. The muscle had atrophied some but they felt confident she could regain full use after an FHO surgery. The general consensus was that she had probably been hit by a car at some point as her whole body is slightly off kilter and not centered. She has had her FHO surgery and is now going through rehab work with her amazing foster.
Elsa is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She LOVES her foster cats – her foster says she often find Elsa with the cats backed up against a wall, giving them all the kisses. She is respectful with the cats though, even winning over the resident grouchy cat (somewhat). She is interested in the free range chickens, but is starting to learn boundaries. Elsa takes treats nicely, is learning voice commands, and even accepts physical therapy without much protest. She seems to get along well with everyone, including the neighbor’s 3yo grandson. She’s extremely quiet and not afraid of strangers. Now, she is still very puppy like and is a SUPER chewer so she will need someone who can keep an eye on her and will need to be crated when alone. She is housebroken, crate trained, and walks nicely on the leash. The vet expects a full recovery and with her easygoing nature, will make some family very happy.
