Fluffy is approximately 5 years old and weighs 45 lbs. She is a Border Collie mix, and is also heartworm positive. Upon arrival and stay at the shelter, poor Fluffy alternated between being completely shut down or trying to escape by throwing herself into/under/over/off of anything she could get close to. Between her fear, reactivity and the heartworms, she was not considered adoptable and could only be released to a rescue.
BCSAVE was able to find a foster who could bring Fluffy into their home and treat not only the heartworms, but also work on socialization. So far, Fluffy has come a LONG way, allowing herself to be pet and integrating well with other dogs. She will complete her heartworm treatment around the end of October 2022.
