Freddie

Freddie is approximately 7 years old and 38 lbs. He came to BCSAVE from a shelter in Oklahoma, where he was picked up as a stray. He was having some health issues (lack of appetite, not very active, potential health issues) so our OK volunteer immediately pulled Freddie from the shelter and took him to the vet. There, the vet discovered Freddie has Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne infectious disease of dogs, usually carried by the brown dog tick. In the early stage (which we are hoping Freddie is in), infected dogs may have fever, swollen lymph nodes, respiratory distress, weight loss, bleeding disorders (spontaneous hemorrhage or bleeding), and occasionally, neurological disturbances (they may seem unsteady or develop meningitis). Luckily, a long course of treatment, generally four weeks with a medication like doxycycline is usually effective. His new foster also got him groomed, as he had a large number of mats all over his coat.

Freddie is as mild-mannered and sweet as can be. He is house and leash trained, and great in the car. Freddie is non-reactive to humans and other dogs, squirrels, bunnies, etc… He does not seem really treat or toy motivated but he LOVES to get scratched and pet. Freddie would be perfect for a relaxed, chill household looking for a fab companion.
