Gretchen and her siblings were rescued from a 30+ dog hoarding case in far North Texas. They are all part of our Heartland 29 group of pups.
Gretchen (approx. 8 months and 29 lbs.) is a gorgeous sable girl who is also deaf. However, her deafness has not prevented her from being loving and sweet and one of the fastest of these pups to acclimate to being around people. She loves to get scratched and has figured out that sleeping on the bed is the best thing ever. Gretchen is also great with other pups, and has discovered her love of herding his sister, Sistene. She will herd cats though as well though, so will be best in a cat free or a cat-savvy home.
Gretchen initially has issues being left in a crate, probably partially due to her deafness and not wanting to be isolated. She has broken out of a wire crate but does much better in a rugged crate, like a Ruffland. Now, she readily goes into her crate to eat and sleep. She is also doing very well on leash and is house-trained and knows the doggy door. She is learning hand cues and has been doing better in public situations.
Gretchen is available as a foster to adopt or to be adopted.
