General Information
Harry is an energetic, black-and-white, medium-coated Border Collie born on June 3, 2024. He has a solid, athletic frame and weighs around 30 lbs, with an expected adult weight of 36-42 lbs. As a purebred AKC-registered Border Collie, Harry comes from a line of working dogs and shows tremendous potential in various dog sports. He is fully up to date on vaccinations and vet care and is currently being evaluated for his full range of talents.|
Background
Harry and his brother came to BCSAVE as owner surrenders. From the beginning, Harry has shown an incredible enthusiasm for toys, food, and learning new skills. Now in a sport foster home, he is receiving focused training and attention to prepare him for a life filled with fun and adventure.
Health
Harry is a healthy young pup with no known health issues. He has a shiny, healthy coat and skin, with no digestive or bowel issues. His stool is consistently solid, and he has been thriving on a combination raw and kibble diet. He is transitioning well from a puppy formula to an all-life-stages diet and shows no issues with grain or grain-free formulas. Additionally, he has no sensitivities to specific proteins. He is active, strong, and constantly moving, but he also enjoys resting in the sun after a day full of play. His vet work is current, and he is set to be neutered before adoption. Harry has excellent movement, a clean gait, and no issues with loud noises like fireworks or thunderstorms.
Personality
Harry is a playful, high-energy pup with a love for all things fun. He adores playing fetch, is obsessed with tennis balls, and finds immense joy in tugging games. His extreme toy and food drive make training sessions enjoyable, though he can get easily distracted by food. However, he is responsive to commands and eager to learn. Harry has a mischievous side when self-entertaining but often tires himself out, leading to long naps in sunny spots. He can be cautious but is learning how to greet others with confidence. His eagerness to engage makes him a promising candidate for flyball, agility, Frisbee, and other sports.
Home Life
Harry is house-trained but still needs supervision and reminders. He is crate-trained and feels secure resting in his crate with toys or bones. Harry loves to self-entertain, frequently pulling toys from the toy box and playing on his own. He has a quirky habit of playing with his toys in the bathtub, which adds to his playful and curious personality. This independent streak can sometimes lead to playful mischief, but he is also happy to wind down and nap after burning off his energy. He loves car rides and travels well, making him an excellent companion for adventures. He is great with children and gets along well with other dogs and even cats. He would thrive in a home where he can be both active and relaxed.
Social Life
Harry is friendly and loves meeting new people and dogs, though he can be cautious at first. He is learning to greet others with confidence and enjoys both one-on-one play sessions and group interactions. His socialization training is ongoing, and he is making steady progress. He travels well in the car and enjoys being out and about with his human, whether it’s a trip to the dog park or a hike on the trails.
Behavior

• Traveling: 10/10 – Travels well in the car, in a crate or free in the backseat.

Sport Potential
• Fetch: 10/10 – Loves fetch, obsessed with tennis balls, and is developing a strong drive for retrieving.
• Frisbee Drive: 9/10 – Shows great interest in Frisbee and is building skills for competitive disc sports.
• Agility: 8/10 – Fearless and confident on agility equipment, with potential to excel in the sport.
• Dock Diving & Swimming: TBD – Loves the water, fake ducks, and bumpers but has not been formally introduced to dock jumping.
• Herding Instinct: 3/10 – Low herding drive, making him better suited for sports and active companionship rather than herding work.
Training
Harry is smart, eager to learn, and highly trainable, thanks to his extreme food and toy drive. He is working on basic obedience, leash manners, and consistent recall. He quickly picks up new commands but needs a patient, experienced handler to guide him through his puppy energy and occasional distractions. His training is ongoing, and he’s improving every day.
