Hope

Hope is an approximately 2-3 year old, mixed pup who was hit by a car in West Texas in November 2021. The finder was able to get the dog to an emergency vet in Odessa, where they determined that the dog was suffering from multiple pelvic and hip breaks along with a deflated lung (which resolved itself). The break was a complex one, and not one just any vet could repair. The emergency vet recommended transferring the vet to a specialist in Dallas and estimated the cost at around $6,000, which the finder could not afford. We were advised of the dog and the difficult situation and were able to bring the pup into rescue, get her the surgery she needed with one of our full service vets, and find an amazing foster who could take care of her through the healing process. Her foster named her Hope.

Our vets were able to plate and pin Hope’s pelvic bone and complete her FHO. Hope then moved to a long term foster in Austin, TX to begin her rehab. Unfortunately, after several months, we realized Hope was not progressing as we had hoped on all four legs. She was still not using her right rear leg and seemed to be in pain. After several more consultations and vet visits, the decision was made to remove Hope’sw rear leg. And this was the best decision for her!

She is now completely healed and raring to do! She loves nothing more tan to run around in the back yard with her fur-friends. She does take some time to warm up to both new people and new pups, but once you’re in her circle she’s a sweetheart and so happy to be part of a family. She is playful, fun, loving, and a great pup looking for a wonderful family companion!
