Meet Mango – A Sweet, Loving, and Playful Border Collie

Mango is a 6-7 month old, ~30lb Border Collie from our Heartland 29 group. Initially very timid and unsocialized upon arrival, she has made remarkable progress in just a few short weeks and is now thriving as a cherished house dog.

This affectionate and intelligent girl embodies the true spirit of a Border Collie. She enjoys playing with balls and chew toys, receiving tummy scratches, and engaging with her 3-year-old Border Collie foster sibling. Mango has already mastered potty training and leash training in under three weeks, demonstrating her ability to learn quickly and take direction well.

Mango is eager to form strong bonds with her human family and enjoys playtime, but she is also content to relax in her kennel and is very submissive. She has shown no food reactivity towards other dogs and is non-reactive to cars, other dogs, cats, or wildlife during walks in a busy neighborhood. While she may pull on the leash occasionally, Mango prefers to stay close to her humans.

Her first bath was a success, and she did wonderfully throughout the process. Mango is currently working on commands like “sit” and “stay,” and she is progressing quickly. She also experiences “happy pees” when excited, a minor issue that we are working on together. Mango is still learning to feel comfortable around visitors but is making great strides.

Mango would thrive in most environments, especially with access to a yard where she can enjoy her favorite activity: playing fetch. She is scheduled for her final round of vaccinations on November 11th and her spay procedure on November 27th.
