🐾 Mary was found as a stray with five newborn puppies in early November 2023. She nipped at a shelter worker and was put on a bite hold for ten days, after which the shelter reached out to find her a new place. We were able to pull Mary and her five puppies hours before she was going to be put to sleep.

Since in foster care, we have realized that Mary LOVES people and has no issues with her puppies being handled. Mary *is* nervous about being grabbed around the collar area. She is also pretty rough about the house manners area – she seems house and leash trained, but she will counter surf, probably because she is a little underweight *and* still nursing five very hungry pups. She has met other dogs while on her walk and has had no reactions.

She looks like she might be mixed with German Shepherd, and we expect her to fill out to around 60 lbs once she is finished nursing. She is also heartworm positive, so will need to to through heartworm treatment once her pups are all weaned so will probably not be available to adopt until April 2024.
