Mindy first came to the rescue in 2020 and was extremely timid and fearful, suffering from submissive urination. Since then, she has become a much more outgoing, friendly pup, doing great in a few different foster homes. She can still get spooked and will urinate a little if super nervous or scared. Mindy will also use the bathroom inside if not given a regular potty schedule *or* if she gets over-aroused and “forgets” to go outside. All of these situations can be avoided with a regular bathroom schedule and/or crate use, as Mindy is fully crate-trained and LOVES her crate. She can be a little skittery on slick floors (we think her feet go faster than her brain lol), and she’s can get a little hyper but will come easily when called and will relax. She also still needs a little work on the leash, but for the most part, does well on walks.

Mindy is also a VERY HIGH herding drive dog. She will engage in a little dog play, but for Mindy, herding other dogs is the best thing ever! Great for Mindy, not so great for the dog being herded. She can also be very barky when she wants something – to go downstairs, to get another dog’s attention, to go outside, to come upstairs, etc… She is very eager to please her people though, and would be great for home training in things like agility or obedience, though she will likely never be good in public or in any sort of competition due to her timidity and excitability.

Patience is key with her, as Mindy will take a little bit of time to get comfortable in a new situation. She does need plenty of exercise, and would probably love to herd sheep or ducks all day long if she could. No sheep? For Mindy, lots of space to run is crucial. She is dog-door trained but will also nicely lay at your feet while you work from home or watch TV. She does not have any toy drive but is super food motivated and learns quickly. She is a super sweet, always happy, loving girl who would like space, consistency in her life, and something to herd.
