WHOA Nelly!!!!   Nelly came to BCSAVE courtesy of the Austin Humane Society (AHS) after being owner surrendered. This was Nelly’s second time at AHS; she was labeled as anxious and fearful and snappish. BCSAVE knows that often times these behaviors are symptomatic of a Border Collie who is not given enough mental and physical stimulation and felt that Nelly might be suffering from this.

We took Nelly in and placed her with our sport foster for assessment and training, and lo and behold! Nelly showed an insane talent for disc work, taking to the frisbee training like a duck to water. In fact, her upward leaps were so amazing her foster gave her the nickname “Whoa Nelly!” as her new sporting name!

Because of her drive and skills, we determined that Nelly would need to be placed with a experienced handler who could build her talent through regular training. We found the perfect family for her – a sporting family of regular competitors who were looking for the final dog to complete their pack and train with their son. We are excited that Nelly will be able to continue her training and growth and look forward to seeing this girl compete on the world stage!
