Tito

Tito was a stray found in S. Texas. About 5-6 yrs old and 52 lbs., all signs point toward him having been either a chained up dog or one that lived in a backyard kennel (things like his front teeth being worn down, his fascination with birds, not really knowing how to interact with other dogs, and how overwhelming things like going to the beach are some of the signs). He also has really bad skin, skin rashes from fleas, excessive licking of his boy bits, and he had blood in his urine. On top of all that, unfortunately, Tito is also heartworm positive.

We immediately got him to the vet, who gave him an allergy injection and medicated shampoo to help with the skin, allergies, and licking, scratching, and rash. Good news is that the issues stopped almost immediately. They ran a blood panel and a urinalysis due to the blood, and everything came back normal except one value that typically elevates in HW+ dogs. Since then – no more blood in the urine!

We’ve lined up a long term foster to take him through his heartworm treatment and get him on the road to recovery. So far, Tito has been nothing but sweetness and kisses so we’re excited to see what he’s like when he is all better!
