Sam

ADOPTED!

Age: 2 Years
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Coat: Black and white Rough Coat
Weight: 40 lbs

Sam was one of the Indiana Three, a subset of a group of nine adult and four puppies rescued from a breeder turned hoarder in Indiana. A fellow rescue group, Clancy’s Dream, saved all the pups and in turn, transferred the pups to several other rescues, including BCSAVE (who took three). Unfortunately, all the dogs rescued were heartworm positive. A 2 year old classic black and white BC, Sam was also very typical of BC in temperament. He was constantly on the move, curious and energetic. Because Sam was heartworm positive, he had to go through the American Heartworm Society (AHS) “fast kill” protocol, which means Sam was on several medications and severe activity restriction for four months. His adoptive family to be actually met Sam at a Dog Days of Denton event, where they feel for his goofy personality. They fostered him through the  second half of his heartworm treatment and they knew during that time that Sam had found his FURever home with them. Sam is now finished his heartworm treatment and is living his life to the fullest, running and playing frisbee and camping and having a blast with his new family (and fur-brother, Ranger)!
