Shiraz

Shiraz is one of the seven puppies in the Wine and Cheese litter born to Mama Merlot on June 1, 2020.  Mama Merlot may have been a BC/ Heeler mix, but Shiraz (aka Icee) took after the heeler side 100% in looks!

Shiraz was adopted in early 2021 and returned to BCSAVE a few months later. Always a shy pup, Shiraz had started to become more fearful of her adoptive dad. After working with her for many months, her adoptive parents came to the realization that Shiraz’s fear was not improving and that their home was not the best environment for her.

Since returning to foster care, we’ve come to realize that Shiraz just needs time to adjust and space to retreat to if she is not sure about things. She is a long, tall, beautiful, short haired cattle dog type with a gentle soul and touch. She is cat, chicken and dog friendly, if a little timid around people. She warms up faster to women then men, but she is not aggressive at all – she just walks away if she gets concerned. She plays wonderfully with other dogs, and loves to sit next to you and put her paw on your leg for attention. She walks well on a leash, even if with someone she doesn’t know very well, and is more than content to be your office dog or roam your property with you. She’s got great recall and is a wonderful, sweet companion looking for someone who doesn’t need or invite a lot of hubbub.
