Stitch

Stitch is approximately 3 yrs and 37 lbs and was surrendered to BCSAVE by his previous owners who were unable to care for him or keep up with his energy. Stitch was mostly left in the backyard, where he was constantly jumping the fence and ended up even breaking his foot at one point. We were able to bring him into BCSAVE as a result of a rescue angel stepping up, and boy, are we glad we did! Stitch is a super sweet pup who loves to go to the dog park and chase and play with the other dogs, which is a perfect way to tire him out as he isn’t super ball/toy driven. Stitch is great with other pups and even tolerates his foster brother putting Stitch in his place.

His favorite thing however, is to be cuddled up in bed or on the couch with his favorite human. Stitch thinks he should be a lap dog, so he will happily lay his whole body on you and the more of you he is touching, the happier he is. Stitch also enjoys watching the foster’s outside cats run around outside, so he might chase cats that run but would probably do okay with calm, dog savvy cats. We’ll be testing this theory very soon lol…

Stitch does have some slight separation anxiety, but that has been lessened by having a dog friend to keep him company while the hoomans aren’t home. He is also super smart, so his separation anxiety should be something he can be trained out of. Stitch also knows sit, and is learning down and working on his recall too. He has not tried to escape his foster’s yard so far, but is not left out without supervision due to his escape artist history.

Stitch does like to mount other dogs but this should lessen after he is neutered in late February. He can also be a bit of a talker when he doesn’t get enough attention or is left alone in another room, and can also get mouthy, but is extremely soft-mouthed.
