Timber

Timber was one of six puppies rescued from a backyard breeder in Tennessee. There were many more seized and through the partnership of several rescues and shelters and local law enforcement, all were placed in rescues.

ALL of the pups were extremely unsocialized, very fearful of people, and heartworm positive. Their lives were spent crowded in outdoor cages with little access to people, regular care or vetting. Some were so matted they had to be shaved. They were ALL intact (neither spayed or neutered).
Timber started to decline, not eating and becoming very lethargic. After visiting with the vet, we determined he was in right sided heart failure, had a pulmonary edema, and there were some issues with his lungs. They also thought his heart was swelling and there were other issues which bloodwork could have revealed; however, they were secondary issues and of less short term concern. They did not believe he had any long-term chance even if we could have gotten through his initial round of issues. He was breathing heavily and struggling to get enough oxygen into his blood and they didn’t believe the fight would be worth the suffering, so after discussing with his vet and foster, we decided to let Timber go.
