Tucker

Tucker is a 9 month old, 23 lb red merle Border Collie (as of 10/4/20). He was surrendered to BCSAVE because he was having a number of health issues and his owner could not give him the kind of care he needed to diagnose and treat his issues. We took Tucker to the vet where he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. He is currently undergoing treatment to get his diabetes under control, including regular testing to determine his insulin needs and injections twice daily. Since coming into BCSAVE, he has been getting his diabetes under control and has started to gain some weight, though he will likely always be a small dog (probably sub-35 lbs). He also has cataracts which cause some vision impairment and will need to be addressed once his diabetes is under control, though right now we expect that he could regain full vision once he receives cataract surgery.

Even with his health issues, Tucker is a sweet dog with a great personality. He is shy with strangers but likes treats, and we continue to expose him to new people and places to get his comfortable with new experiences.  He is an excellent car rider and will eagerly jump in the car. He gets along great with his foster sister and cat. Tucker will need a very special FURever home – one that can manage his twice daily injections and regular vet visits to manage his dosing level as he grows.
