Tyra

Tyra was abandoned on S. Hampton in Crowley TX and survived on her own for over a week in the wooded area until the City of Crowley Texas Animal Shelter were finally able to set a humane trap and catch her! The shelter staff were also advised of a second pup but unfortunately, were not able to find him/her (all that was found was some coyote scat with black fur imbedded in it so we all fear the worst has happened 😢).

The shelter named her Tyra for the meaning “thunder warrior”. We were able to get her DNA tested and about 30% Great Pyrenees with about 11% Border Collie and a bunch of other pups mixed in. The Great Pyrenees probably accounts for her size, as she is 44 lbs and growing. She is still very shy and timid but her new foster was able to get some tail wags and some belly rubs going, so progress! We will continue to socialize Tyra and help her to build up that confidence before she’ll be available for adoption.
