Artoo

Artoo is a 3-4 month old, likely BC mix (maybe terrier?). She joined us from the Austin Animal Center with her (maybe) littermate, See. Short for R2D2 (named because we thought she’d be joining us on the 4th of May – “May the 4th Be with You” for those in the know), Artoo is a smart, sassy little girl who is super social and loves her toys and wrestling with her brother. She can be a little overly assertive with him, trying to eat his food when she’s finished with hers so she’s being fed on a puzzle feeder to slow her down or take his toy even if she has her own. Artoo is friendly and will quickly show you love at first meeting. She is playful and an extrovert, and will friendly puppy bark to say ‘howdy’ to passing humans and animals.

Artoo is smart and observant/curious about the world. So far, she has learned her name and ‘sit’. She is not quite house trained yet but she’s getting there. She loves to play and be around humans and See. She is good with playing with See and their toys, and tiring themselves out. She will sleep through the night in the crate with See. She can walk on leash but will pull, it’s best to use a harness to prevent this. Neither Artoo and See are bothered by thunderstorm or other loud noises. She has separation anxiety but she is a puppy and is trainable especially since she is food motivated.

As a puppy, her energy level is difficult to ascertain; she likes to play but isn’t too crazy about it so we think she’ll be a moderate or medium-high energy level pet – great for a family who’s willing to give her some exercise (physically and mentally) to keep her engaged. She is not spayed yet and will be adopted with a spay contract (her adopter will be responsible for getting her spayed before she is a year old).
