Dot was found in a horse barn in a rural part of Mississippi with a new litter of puppies. Both Dot and the puppies were rescued, and the puppies all found good homes but Dot was not a good candidate for adoption as she was extremely fearful of people. Luckily, our wonderful Louisiana partner was able to arrange a rescue angel to fly Dot to Texas, where a cadre of BCSAVE volunteers picked her up and got her to our staging foster. For the first several months, Dot was basically feral, unsocialized, afraid of everything and avoided all human contact.
About 7 yrs and 44 lbs, Dot has come SUCH a long way! She LOVES to give hugs and kisses. She sleeps in the bed, loves to chase her friends, and hangs out in the WFH office beautifully.
She still has challenges – she is learning to walk on the leash without flopping over but it will take time to get her truly comfortable with the leash. She does not voluntarily go in a crate, but you can pick her up and put her in and she’s fine. She is very scared of new things, so you have to hold her tight and she can be very vocal at times.
Dot is looking for:
Dot is a beautiful pup who just needs someone patient who can work with her through her timidness. She has never been aggressive or mean, even when she was extremely scared. She will take a little bit of time to warm up to you, but if you do adopt, know that Dot will eventually reward you with smiles and kisses that are worth the wait!!
